Brenda Brown is a New Mexico sonographer, healthcare entrepreneur, and co-founder of New Mexico Sonographics, Inc. in 1993, Brown and fellow sonographer Janis Carrasco established the practice after recognizing that women in rural New Mexico had limited access to diagnostic ultrasound services.

New Mexico Sonographics began as a mobile operation, with its first outreach clinic in Socorro. Brenda and Janis shared a vision of bringing high-quality obstetrical ultrasound technology and specially trained sonographers directly to mothers in underserved communities. From those beginnings, New Mexico Sonographics expanded its reach throughout the state, providing obstetrical and gynecological imagining, maternal-fetal medicine support, fetal echocaridography,  genetic screening and other specialized diagnostic services. 

During Brenda’s leadership, New Mexico Sonographics became the first mobile ultrasound practice in the United States to receive accreditation from the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM). The practice reports continuous AIUM accreditation since 1997 and later achieved additional distinctions in fetal echocardiography, 3D gynecological imaging, and detailed fetal-anatomy ultrasound.

Today, Brenda remains a co-founder and executive officer of New Mexico Sonographics. Her career reflects a longstanding commitment to maternal healthcare, advanced diagnostic imaging, and improving access to specialized services for families throughout New Mexico.
